About HeartSafe

Our Story
The Saskatoon Heart Safe Program (Public Access Defibrillation) is a community program aimed at providing rapid access to defibrillation in case of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). The program is funded by our corporate partners from Saskatoon Health Region, Saskatchewan Blue Cross, Ens Auto, and Medavie Health Services -West.

Businesses and community venues that have the onsite protection of an AED have reported survival rates as high as 65%, in contrast to the 5% national survival rate for those who experience Sudden Cardiac Arrest without access to a nearby AED unit.
The goal of the Saskatoon Heart Safe program is for AEDs to be as common as fire extinguishers. By having AEDs in public locations such as businesses and community venues throughout Saskatoon and surrounding communities, lives will be saved… and it may be yours.

Saskatoon’s Heart Safe Program is one of the most successful programs in North America, currently the program has saved 35 lives and there are over 1100 Heart Safe locations registered with the Program.
